Before I leave....New Camera

I got a new camera for my "birthday." I put it in quotations because it was about 2 months late.

I'm not complaining though, because I absolutely love it!
The following is a sampling of some of the pictures I've taken so far. I'm learning a lot about ISO, Shutter Speed, Aperture, etc. So bear with me. And if you have suggestions- feel free to comment!
This is the first picture my camera took- Andy took it. Doesn't Samson look distinguished? I think B&W may be his best "look."
Here the Fam is going for a walk. It was the 4th of July. I like how RG is in focus and Syd is just a little blurry. After all, RG (who is getting ready to stick her fingers in her mouth) is the main subject of this picture.

Hello Syd! I wish this was just a little clearer, and minus the car.

I just like this picture. It depicts my 7 months pregnant sister climbing a fence to pick mulberries...She'll do anything for food these days...

Syd discovered that Nana's flower baskets drip after she waters them. It's kind of hard to tell here but this picture is an oops- Syd is not in focus but all of the flowers are. Not a bad effect over all but not what I was going for.

I love this pic, it's a good portrait and shows her concetration :)

Tristan on his bike! Pic is a little dark but cute none-the-less, I like how it captures his chipmunk cheeks :)

This is Chris's new dog Conrad. He's 12 weeks old, about 40lbs, and his paws are as big as like, my head. I want to eat his face,

Experimentation: I focused on the screw head. In a larger version it's actually very focused and clear.

Middle School Girls at the beach. Aren't they cute!?!

The girls were very patient with me as I made them pose for pictures. Here was my attempt at an action shot. From left to right: Franciska, Jessica, Maddy, Amanda, Ivy, Amy.

I probably should not have encouraged this....but nobody ever called me a perfect youth pastor...

You will LOVE your D-SLR (as you already noted). You MUST learn to shoot in manual mode and then you will never go back. once I figured that out, I was so (mostly) happy with my shots.

Also, once you learn the intricacies of various lenses, you will learn that one good lens is worth more than your camera and equal to a house payment, but WORTH EVERY PENNY!
